The Constitution is a great document - Senator Isakson should read it someday!
by Mike Crane

Our rights are like a cookie. No matter how big the cookie and how small the bites - eventually you run out of cookie.

The Second Amendment to the US Constitution contains a clause that most citizens can clearly understand:

" ... shall not be infringed."

One does not need to be a rocket scientist or have the mental capacity of Albert E. Einstein to understand what "shall not be infringed" means.

But first the US House of Representative and now the US Senate are showing that they do not understand the term "shall not be infringed." HR-2640 after passing the House by a voice vote - it is now working its way through the US Senate.

HR-2640 if passed will be another small step in eliminating your God given rights. Some of your fellow citizens will probably lose their life as a result, possibly you.

When you or your family are faced with a lunatic or just plain ole ordinary criminal who is preparing to do you, your family or even your fellow citizens bodily harm - the US Senate will not be there to help you!

All one has to do is take a look at the much publicized incident at Virginia Tech, which is the driving force behind this legislation.

With similar intended legislation - Virginia had made possession of the means for self defense illegal at Virginia Tech.

So when a lunatic decided to shoot as many people as he could, who was there to help the now disarmed citizens:

  • The Virginia Legislature was not there, had they been - most would have run like greased lightning!

  • The local government officials were not there, had they been - most would have run like greased lightning!

  • The school administration was not there, although they had praised the Virginia Legislature for disarming the citizens, had they been - most would have run like greased lightning!

  • The US Senate was not there, had they been - most would have run like greased lightning!

Many contacted our Georgia Republican Senators requesting that they support the Constitution, specifically the Second Amendment. Should have been a slam-dunk. When they want your vote - they tell you that they understand and support the Second Amendment.

The following is one of the replies that Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson is sending:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxx:

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R.2640, the NICS Improvement Act of 2007. I appreciate your thoughts and the opportunity to respond.

Tragic events such as the killings in Virginia cause some to call for stricter gun laws or even a repeal of the Second Amendment to the Constitution.  I support responsible gun laws and I support the Second Amendment.  Restrictions alone cannot stop a premeditated act such as the one committed by Cho Seung-Hui.  In this particular case, a combination of security procedures, rapid response and notification could have reduced the loss of life, and better mental health intervention might have saved everyone from this horrible tragedy.  It is important for all of us engaged in public policy to evaluate all of these areas and improve both laws and policies.

As you may know, H.R.2640 passed the House on June 13, 2007, and is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I will continue to carefully monitor this legislation and the effects it could have on gun owners.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please visit my webpage at http://isakson.senate.gov for more information on the issues important to you and to sign up for my e-newsletter.

Sincerely,
Johnny Isakson
United States Senator

Read Senator Isakson's reply carefully. Note that he did not say a single word about guaranteeing the citizen's God given right to self-defense. He did not say a single word about ending the prohibition under color of law against the God given right of self-defense of students and citizens at Virginia Tech.

No - he said:

I support responsible gun laws and I support the Second Amendment.

Yea right! Political double talk! What does " ... shall not be infringed." mean to Senator Isakson? Guess it depends on which way the campaign checks are falling ...

He should not be "monitoring" this bill - he should be working to "kill" it! You can take it to the bank that when some lunatic takes aim on you - Senator Isakson will not be there to defend you.

Sadly, our other US Senator is worse.
