Alarming Votes by Georgia US House of Representatives delegation
Well the National ID has passed and was gleefully signed by
President Bush. Your local driver license office has now been
declared the front line on the battle against illegal immigration.
Only in whatever secret wheeling and dealing is done in Washington,
could anyone believe that your local driver license office is an
effective place to stop illegal immigration. If this is the best
Washington can do to stop illegal immigration then you had better
start learning several foreign languages.

It is absolutely
amazing that giving Homeland Security control of your driver's
license is being presented as a way to restrict immigration. By the
time an illegal immigrant is denied a driver's license he has
already crossed the border.
Illegal immigration control has to be implemented at the borders
NOT at your local driver's license station.
Just wait until
some government employee buried in the endless cubicles of the
growing federal bureaucracy makes a "typing
error," is "mad" at you or you
turn up on some "special list." Presto,
you will not be able to drive, fly, vote, and who knows what else
they will now place under the control of the driver license gurus at
Homeland Security. If that happens to you or some member of your
family - you will have a much better understanding of what Our
Founding Fathers meant by "limited government."
Have you wondered
how our Georgia delegation voted on the National ID? It may be a
surprise to you and is listed in the table below:

Surprise! Georgia's delegation voted 11 - 2 in favor of
implementing a National ID! More surprising every Republican in our
Congressional delegation voted FOR a
National ID. Our so-called proponents of "limited government" just
voted in unison for another facet of Big Brother.
Only two members
of Georgia's Congressional delegation voted against the National ID.
Representatives Lewis and
McKinney. It is certainly a New Day in Georgia when Representatives
Lewis and McKinney are the most conservative Georgia members of
Congress on any vote. Good grief - they are so far in left field all
they can catch are foul balls, where does that place the rest of our
delegation?
But hang on to
your seats. It gets worse.
Aside from the
ridiculous idea that you can stop illegal immigration at your local
Driver License office, the National ID brings more federal mandates.
In fact the department of Homeland Security has a virtual blank
check to implement whatever requirements it wants to place on these
National IDs. If Georgia does not implement each and every one of
these federal mandates created by un-elected federal bureaucrats
then you can not fly, drive, cash checks, vote, etc.
This will of
course require large expenditures by the State of Georgia. Such
items are called "unfunded mandates."
Now some of you may remember the "Contract with America." The pledge
made by Republicans when they took control of the House of
Representatives. This was their sacred pledge of what they would do
if the People put them in charge.
The Contract of
America pledged that Republicans would work diligently to end
unfunded mandates!
The Homeland Security Appropriations Act had a
vote on just such an amendment. This amendment would provide federal
funding for the federal mandates on the States to implement National
IDs. A look at the Georgia delegation will tell you just how much
this sacred pledge means to our current crop of Republican US
Representatives.

That is right, every single Republican member of the Georgia
delegation voted against federal funding. Every one of them! Of
course the real problem is the passage of a National ID. But for a
party pledged to end "unfunded federal
mandates" the votes on National ID are a complete
repudiation of their sacred pledge, both in principle and in
practice. Shame!
If you are astonished, we have listed the links to the actual
Roll Call votes. The table below is just facts, nothing more than
officially record votes!
There is a serious problem here. Democrats have not become
conservative and have not suddenly started following the
Constitution. The serious problem is that the Republicans have
become better Democrats than the Democrats. It is now the
Republicans who are leading the way in abandoning our Founding
Principles.
If it was just this one vote, there would be room for debate.
But it is not just this one vote, or this one issue. Specifically
there have been several this year alone:
CAFTA passed House by two votes ...
More on Congressional Pork Bill, ... er we mean Transportation Bill
...
Georgia Congressional Delegation continues liberal voting trend
We believe that it is safe to say that many Georgians are not
getting what they thought they voted for.
We doubt that a majority of Georgians by a 11 - 2 margin were
in favor of a National ID, or the large margins of support given to
CAFTA, Patriot Act II and especially the world's largest "pork bill"
in the history of mankind. Looking at these bills as a group the
Georgia Congressional delegation has supported them by a margin of
38 - 14. Almost 3 - 1.
The shocking votes on this group of issues for the entire
Georgia delegation is:
