Atlanta Journal Report shows Coke decline ...
The Atlanta Journal
recently released the annual Ranking Of Georgia Companies. For those
who would like to look at the report it is at:
http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/extra/best2005/bigchart1.html
Since we are in our third year of the Boycott Coke effort we
thought we would take a few minutes and see what this report says
about the performance of Coke in relationship to other Georgia
Companies. After all Coke management decided that using their
corporate funds to influence the State government was a top
priority.
Well using the rankings generated by Price Waterhouse and
published in the Atlanta Journal we see a common pattern:
| Year |
2003 |
2004 |
2005 |
| Rank |
28 |
41 |
58 |
During this period, the same timeframe as our Boycott, virtually
every time Coke Financial Reports are released, the story remains
the same. Sales and Performance in their "North American" unit
are
flat and underperforming.
What "flat" means is that despite spending millions of dollars on
new products and advertising to lure new customers to Coke Products,
for every one they gain, they are losing one. Now even their ranking
among Georgia Companies by the AJC shows the effect.
Now lets look at another measure. The following is chart of Coke
stock performance vs. the DOW. As most are aware the DOW is an index
of stock performance in general:

As you can see from this chart, Coke was performing better than
the DOW prior to the start of our boycott - but has steadily
performed under the DOW since. Any graduate of introductory
marketing in business school will tell you that your dedicated
customers buy more products than former customers. Ever since Coke
decided to use your money for force political correctness upon the
public their stock has under performed.
Oh well, the politically correct always discount information they
do not like, even when in the case of the AJC rankings above, it is
their own information. Well lets compare Coke's performance with
their main competitor, Pepsi:

As you can see from this chart, Coke was performing better than
Pepsi prior to the start of our boycott - but has steadily performed
under Pepsi since. Any graduate of introductory
marketing in business school will tell you that your dedicated
customers buy more products than former customers. Ever since Coke
decided to use your money for force political correctness upon the
public their stock has under performed.
Interesting that by measure after
measure the story remains the same.
Americans are just tired of political correctness. Americans
are tired of arrogant multi-national corporations unholy influence
in our government. And Southerners are tired of companies that they
have supported for generations, insulting them by selling Our
Heritage on the auction block of political correctness.
The next time you go into a store to buy soft drinks, just
remember that Coke management will use some portion of your money to
prevent the People Of Georgia from voting on our State Flag. That
Coke management will use some portion of your money to force
political correctness upon the public by an unholy influence on your
government.
Buy something other than Coke products
and join us in sending a message to Coke that it is past time to get
out of politics and return to being the very successful company our
families helped create.
