Recommendations for
2006 Democratic Primary Tuesday, July 18
|
 |
The Southern Party of Georgia, a grass roots effort to restore good government for the
People of Georgia, recommends the following candidates for the
Democratic Primary,
July 18.
Low voter turnout: an analysis
Based upon some general
historical projections the expected turnout should be approximately 22 percent.
Your VOTE will be important! To
find your poll location and your new district numbers click here.
If the voter turnout
projection is close to the mark, 6-7% of the registered voters can win
this primary. 2-4% can probably swing the election in our favor. Note that
the historical projection of 22% includes voters in both the Democratic
and Republican Primary, so if evenly split would be 11% in each Primary.
Note: The Secretary of
State recently issued their turnout estimate of 22% also.
So your vote, and every
vote that you can get to the polls is very important!
Please check back as
these recommendations are being updated as additional races are
evaluated.

| Governor |
Bill Bolton
|
Neither of the two major contenders have given any indication of
supporting our issues. We recommend Bill Bolton, perhaps he can
force a run off.
|
| Lt. Governor |
Griffin Lotson |
Mr. Lotson has
responded that he would support a FAIR vote and is positive on
Ballot Access reform. Mr. Martin is opposed to both. Mr. Hecht
Voted with the Metro Chamber and should not be trusted.
|
| Secretary of State |
no recommendation |
As far as we can
none of the candidates support any of our issues.
|
| State School Superintendent |
Denise Majette |
Denise Majette is
only candidate to respond to our questions and indicated a
position that "each
child should learn about his or her culture and heritage"
including those with Southern Heritage. By lack of response would
assume that the other candidates believe that children of Southern
Heritage should be discriminated against.

none of the candidates support any of our issues.
|
| District 44 |
Michele Thomas |
Michele Thomas is
the only candidate to respond to our questions and indicated a
willingness to discuss the issues on their merits.
|
| District 55 |
Jerry Wyatt
|
Jerry Wyatt has
worked with us on tax issues and his stand in favor of
representing the citizens as opposed to special interests deserves
support. His opponent, incumbent Gloria Butler is so far in
left field that all she can catch is foul balls and needs to be
retired from public office. |
