Reference: Preserve America Communities

Dear Mr. Fowler:

This letter is being sent to you concerning the Preserve America Communities Award Program. I was unable to find any contact information on their web site, but the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation was listed as a source of funds, inferring tax payer money.

If this is directed to the wrong agency, or individual I would greatly appreciate being referred to the correct one.

I am writing to inform you of a grave problem, one of potential institutional discrimination in the Preserve America Communities and to initiate a request for an investigation.

The City of Augusta, Georgia has been presented a Preserve America Communities award although it has taken unilateral action to desecrate a Memorial to the Southern Heritage of Augusta and the State of Georgia. Not only is this a violation of Georgia Law concerning preservation of historical monuments (OCGA § 50-3-1) but was performed in a political atmosphere, without public input.

We along with many tax payers are greatly dismayed by any potential use of our tax dollars for desecration of our heritage for political purposes and want to investigate how this can operate under color of federal law?

Any information that you can provide confirming any federal funds being used for the Preserve America Communities project or the proper contact to make such an inquiry will be greatly appreciated.
