From SCV about GettysburgFriend s & Compatriots,
This coming weekend marks the close of the so-called Sims "art"
exhibit at Gettysburg College. In response to the exhibit's
close, the National Sons of Confederate Veterans is sponsoring a
heritage rally this Saturday, September 25th at 11AM, at the
Gettysburg Wax Museum parking lot at 297 Steinwehr Avenue in the
heart of the Gettysburg business district.
This is undoubtedly going to be a prestigious event, and an
eye-opener for Gettysburg College as to the "Proper Way to Hang A
Confederate Flag." Our keynote speaker for the event is none
other than nationally-renowned Abraham Lincoln scholar, Professor
Thomas J. DiLorenzo of Loyola College.
We're planning to have quite a ceremony, with live music, singing,
and the unveiling of one of the world's largest Confederate
Battleflags, so come be a part of this unique event. Following
the programs, snacks and drinks will be available.
This event ties-in to what has been a major campaign by the SCV to
force Gettysburg College into paying the enormous security costs
incurred by the Sims exhibit, as well as opening the college up
for a more historically-accurate educational forum to be sponsored
by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. As a part of this, the SCV
has taken out full page ads in the local newspapers, as well as
aired a number of radio spots on the local radio stations. These
can be seen & heard via the SCV's National website at
http://www.scv.org
I encourage you all to come up to Gettysburg this Saturday and
support the Private Wesley Culp Camp, the Pennsylvania Division,
and our friends in the local community, and show Gettysburg
College what is meant by properly display the Confederate
Battle Flag. Please pass this message on to one & all.
Look forward to seeing you all there!
Deo Vindice,
Fred D. Taylor
