Speaker Glenn Richardson
ignores all Heritage organizations in Georgia
On December 14, 2005 representatives of the
various heritage organizations in Georgia met with Governor Perdue to
discuss HB-15, the Georgia Flag FAIR Vote Act. Additional articles
will present the details of that meeting and the response since by
the Governor's staff.
One of the items discussed was a FAIR Vote,
supported by 79% of Georgians, was Representative Austin Scott
holding HB-15 hostage in his House Governmental Affairs Committee.
Representative Austin Scott has said he will ignore the 79% of
Georgians who want a FAIR Vote.
At the meeting with Governor Perdue a meeting
Speaker Richardson was also discussed, both by the Governor and by
the Heritage groups. It has been virtually two months and the
results and lack of results of trying to work with our new
Republican majority demonstrate a lot about the quality of
government we now have in Georgia.
We have waited patiently to see what they would
do, and the time has come to report what they have done. As a
summary of their support, their support and consideration of the
79% of Georgians who support a FAIR Vote is contained in the box
below:
No, your browser is not having a problem. They
have done nothing except give credibility to the claim made by the
Metro Atlanta Chamber that the Chamber was very successful in
gaining influence in the "New Administration."
Our requests to simply schedule a meeting with
Speaker Richardson have received no response.
When discussing such a meeting with Speaker
Richardson's office we are informed that he is just so busy ...
If our elected officials are too busy to
meet with your Heritage organizations, but have time to meet with
countless lobbyists from special interests, that should tell you
something.
79% of Georgians stated they wanted a "FAIR
Vote," the Metro Atlanta Chamber said "No
Vote." In Washington the Republicans publicly demand "A
FAIR Up or Down Vote!" In Georgia they say "No
Vote!"
Is this style of government what you voted for?
For those who would like to contact Speaker
Richardson's office and encourage him to schedule a meeting and to
move the FAIR Vote bill to a FAIR committee, the

We hear so much from Republicans that it was
the Democrats! The Democrats did it, they say. But when you go to
the Capitol and meet with Legislators on the Republican side you
see something different. What you see is lip service and a fear of
either the Republican leadership or special interests. Thomas
Jefferson had some words about such lack of courage:
"The issue
today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether
man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small
elite."
- Thomas Jefferson
There is still time for the Republican
controlled State House, State Senate and Governor's office to take
action. If they fail to, they can not blame it on the Democrats!
Then it will be up to you - the citizens to decide who they truly
represent - you or the special interests. Let them hear from you.
