Recommendations for 2006 Republican Primary Tuesday, July 18

updated: July 11

The Southern Party of Georgia, a grass roots effort to restore good government for the People of Georgia, recommends the following candidates for the Republican Primary, July 18.

Low voter turnout: an analysis

Based upon some general historical projections the expected turnout should be approximately 22 percent.  Your VOTE will be important! To find your poll location and your new district numbers click here.

If the voter turnout projection is close to the mark, 6-7% of the registered voters can win this primary. 2-4% can probably swing the election in our favor. Note that the historical projection of 22% includes voters in both the Democratic and Republican Primary, so if evenly split would be 11% in each Primary.

So your vote, and every vote that you can get to the polls is very important!

Note: The Secretary of State recently issued their turnout estimate of 22% also.

Please check back as these recommendations are being updated as additional races are evaluated.

Statewide Offices

Governor Ray McBerry
http://GeorgiaFirst.org

Ray McBerry stands for Not Washington, Not Atlanta, but Georgia First! The incumbent, Sonny Perdue stands for special interests first, last and always. The Metro Atlanta Chamber has publicly bragged about their influence on the current Administration.

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle Ralph "Funny Money" Reed is a world class corporate and special interest lobbyist. The last thing we need is turning one of these loose in our State Capitol. We recommend voting for Ralph Reed's opponent.
Secretary of State no recommendation
pending, Bill Stephens has a good voting record but we were very disappointed in his lack of support the last Session on the Fair Vote and Ballot Access issues. He also opposed the Verified Voting Bill by introducing a much watered down version. Please check back on this race as we continue contacting the candidates.

State School Superintendent Danny J. Carter Incumbent Kathy Cox has not supported Southern Heritage and needs to be retired. During her term Georgia schools have been ranked at the bottom of our entire country,

Commissioner Of Agriculture Bob Greer Brian Kemp is not only a turncoat but is too cozy with special interests and favors typical GOP "guest worker" amnesty. Vote for one of his opponents, we recommend Bob Greer.

Commissioner Of Labor Brent Brown Chuck Scheid was a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee and supported the lack of public hearings for both  Georgia Flag FAIR Vote bill and Ballot Access Reform. Chuck Scheid should be retired from public service. Vote for his opponent.
Public Service Commission, District 3 - Metro-Atlanta Mark Parkman Chuck Eason is the 1st Vice Chairman of the Fulton County Republican Party and too involved with special interests to be placed in this position.
Public Service Commission, District 5 - West Newt Nickell The Georgia GOP refused to list Mr. Nickell on their list of qualified candidates. Incumbent Stan Wise is too cozy with special interests. He needs to be retired.

Congressional Offices  only 2 have Republican Primary opposition, the other 11 have only one candidate in the Republican Primary

District 6: John Konop The incumbent Tom Price is a pawn of special interests. He established his special interest wheeling and dealing in the State Senate and has continued the trend in Washington.

John Konop is an outspoken critic of illegal immigration, special interest influence and sending jobs to foreign countries.

District 8: Mac Collins We have supported Mac Collins in the past and still believe that he will be a good Representative

State Senate   There are only 4 districts with Primary opposition, the other 52 have zero or one Republican candidates.

District 17 Mike Crotts Incumbent John Douglas would not support any of our issues in the 2005-6 Session, needs to be retired.
District 27 no recommendation pending, check back
District 37 Andy Rice Incumbent John J. Wiles is too cozy with special interests and did not support any of our issues in the 2005-6 Session, needs to be retired.
District 49 Lee Hawkins

State House

District 3 Ron Forster   Representative Forster is one of the few incumbents we recommend. He also co-signed the Ballot Access Reform bill - HB-927 and we recommend giving him another two years

District 12 Bill Pickett Incumbent Tom Graves is one of Speaker Richardson's vultures and should be retired from office.

District 16 Jonathan Ingram No incumbent in this race. Jonathan Ingram is by far the best choice and in agreement with our platform, including eliminating special interest influence. We recommended Jonathan two years ago in the November elections

District 18 Bill Kecskes Incumbent Mark Butler voted with us in 2003 but in following sessions would not co-sign or support our legislation. He needs to be retired. Challenger Bill Kecskes  will represent the people not special interests.

District 22 Sean Jerguson

District 24 Jason Martin Incumbent Tom Knox voted with us in 2003 but in following sessions would not co-sign or support our legislation. He needs to be retired.

District 36 Taffy Rice Incumbent Earl Ehrhart  voted with us in 2003 but in following sessions would not co-sign or support our legislation. Worked against 2nd Amendment Rights in 2006 Session. Needs to be retired.

District 45 Craig Harfoot Incumbent Matt Dollar  voted with us in 2003 but in following sessions would not co-sign or support our legislation. Needs to be retired.
District 69 no recommendation
District 72 Bill Bonner Incumbent Dan Lakly  would not co-sign or support any of our legislation in either 2005 or 2006 Session. Needs to be retired.

District 95 Steve Perry Incumbent Robert F. Mumford   would not co-sign or support our legislation. Worked against 2nd Amendment Rights in 2006 Session. Needs to be retired.

District 98 Wayne Hill Incumbent Bobby Reece voted with us in 2003 but in following sessions would not co-sign or support our legislation. He needs to be retired.

District 102 Woody Woodruff Incumbent Clay Cox  would not co-sign or support our legislation.

District 104 David Rodriguez Incumbent John Heard voted with us in 2003 but in following sessions would not co-sign or support our legislation. He needs to be retired.

District 134 no recommendation
District 136 Meg Nichols
District 137 no recommendation
District 144 Wayne McGuinty Jimmy Pruett has publicly stated his association with Terry Coleman and would be more likely to be influenced by the Metro Atlanta Chamber.

District 177 Mark Hatfield   One of the few incumbents that we recommend. Representative Hatfield co-signed the Flag FAIR Vote bill and deserves another two years.

District 178 Mark Williams No incumbent. Kay Godwin has sided with the Metro Atlanta Chamber and does not believe that the 79% of Georgians who want a FAIR Vote count. Kay Godwin is too cozy with the Metro Chamber and we recommend Mark Williams

Other

Carroll County County Commission District 2 Ernie Blevins
