Dear Friends,
Have you read my first post on
Confederate History Month in April?

Let's go after city, county and state
proclamations in February. In March let's write the news media,
TV, Radio and Newspapers, and ask them what they are planning for
April---Confederate History Month. I will offer a form letter to
the media later.
We have created 20 stories that
could be used on TV, Radio and Newspapers. See list below, please
copy and use where ever they will be helpful.

On July 5, 1864, Union General
Garrards's Cavalry reached Roswell, Georgia and finding it
undefended, occupied the city. General Gerrard reported to
General William T. Sherman on July 6, 1864...."there were fine
factories here. I had the building burnt, all were burnt." The
cotton factory was working up to the time of it's destruction,
some 400 women being employed.

Springhill, Tennessee - Confederate Memorial Service -
April 20
The Roderick camp
2072 in Springhill, Tenn is having a rather unusual
service to mark April as Confederate History Month. We
are putting up yet another military headstone for
another Rebel soldier who was born and raised in my home
in Peytonsville. Capt. Patrick Gibson Smithson of Co D,
20th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry was born in 1838 and
served gallantly in the 20th Tennessee until severly
wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga in September of
1863. After he recovered he returned home to resume
teaching and then took over his dad's mercantile
business until he was elected as the first Commandant of
the Tennessee Soldiers Home in Hermitage. He served in
that capacity until his unexpected death in 1897.
