Both Republican Georgia Senators vote to sell American jobs to foreigners for $500.00 ...

Well the Bush Administration has won another victory for globalist corporations and at least 150,000 Americans will pay for it with their jobs. The H-1B visas program has been expanded by least 30,000 American jobs a year for 5 years at a license fee of $500.00 per American job given to a foreigner.

A globalist multi-national corporation can replace an American with an imported foreigner by buying a U.S. government "Blue Light Special" for $500.00!

This proposal came from the Republican controlled Senate Judiciary Committee as part of S. 1932 (Deficit Reduction Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 2005 ) by a 12 - 4 vote. Senator Byrd submitted an Amendment to remove the H-1B increase of at least 30,000 per year for 5 years. Both Republican Georgia Senators - Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson voted AGAINST the Amendment.

This means that both Georgia Republican Senators voted to sell an extra 150,000 American jobs for $500.00. This is in addition to the already approved 325,000 American jobs to sold in the same 5 years.

The official Senate Roll Call Vote is recorded below along with a link. The vote was overwhelming, 85 US Senators voted to sell an additional 150,000 American jobs for $500.00. Only 14 US Senators voted to save the additional 150,000 American jobs. Both the Republican and Democratic Parties are pandering to special interests and ignoring the best interests of the citizens.

This does not mention the other 325,000 H-1B visas (65,000 per year) that is considered business as usual. So the net effect of this vote, if it is upheld in the US House of Representatives is that 475,000 Americans just got laid off to be replaced by foreigners over the next 5 years.

Just another example of the unholy influence that multi-national corporations have on your elected officials. On immigration issues they can represent the citizens or they can represent the special interests. Today they pandered to special interests and ignored you - the citizens. Well they did not exactly ignore 475,000 Americans over the next 5 years - they just sold your job for a paltry $500.00.

By the way in his remarks on the Senate Floor on November 2, 2005 Senator Saxby Chambliss pointed out that this will benefit both The Coca Cola Company and Delta Airlines (see: Senator Chambliss PROPOSES selling 30,000 American jobs for $500.00 each). Just another example of the unholy influence the Metro Atlanta Chamber has on many Georgia Republicans.

Next comes a US House of Representatives vote on this American job auction. Click on the How To Stay Informed link if you want to be notified when that vote is recorded. Neither Saxby Chambliss nor Johnny Isakson are up for election next year, but every member of the Georgia delegation to the US House of Representatives is.

Is this what you voted for? Both of these Georgia Republican Senators were elected.

The new Republican majority has been a great disappointment both in Washington and here in Georgia. But the Democrats are just as bad. Maybe it is time to try something different. If you are concerned, pass this on to others:

Question: On the Amendment (Byrd Amdt. No. 2367 )
Vote Number: 295 Vote Date: November 3, 2005, 02:16 PM
Source: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00295#position

A Yea vote was to pass the Amendment which would have eliminated the 30,000 per year American job auction, thus saving 150,000 American jobs. A Nay vote was to defeat the Amendment thus selling 150,000 American jobs over 5 years for $500.00 per job.
