Governor Perdue endorses amnesty programs for illegals - calls opponents - hypocrites

As we have pointed out on these pages, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has a pro-immigration position. This includes the aspects that are becoming very familiar in the Bush Administration.

  • Supports the Multi-national Corporation position of promoting illegal immigration to provide "cheap" labor
  • Supports the Multi-National Corporation endorsement of outsourcing American jobs to foreign countries to provide cheap labor
  • Supports the Multi-National Corporation position of expanding Expensive Trade Agreements mislabeled Free Trade Agreements.Perdue and illegal immigration

But to date he has not gone to the extent of name calling, but now that has changed. Governor Perdue is in effect calling every Georgian who is opposed to out of control illegal immigration a hypocrite. This is just over the edge and all of those who have just been labeled a hypocrite should mark their calendars for next November. Governor Perdue certainly would not want to associate himself with the votes of such "hypocrites!"

The Flaggers were right in 2003 when they warned Georgia that the governor was too cozy with the business interests in Georgia.

You can read the Associated Press article for yourself below. For those who would like more information here are a few of the references we have presented for your consideration about the actions of Governor Perdue and the Georgia Republican leadership:

Is this what you voted for?

The Georgians who should be screaming the loudest are those who spent years building the Republican Party. The Georgia Republican leadership has abandoned the principles espoused by the Republican Party for years and has now become beholden to special interests.

This year is an election year and what course is followed the next few years is up to you - the citizens. If you continue to send back the same folks - you will get more of the same. If you want the best government can buy - you will get it!

Maybe it is time to demand that Georgia allow more choices on your ballot! Did you know that Georgia has the hardest ballot access laws in our entire country. As a result Georgians have only one choice in about half of the State Legislature and Congress election after election. For those that are interested there is a ballot access bill HB-927 sitting in a committee. A few calls to your State Representative and Senator could provide some competition and minimize the influence of the special interests. If you would like more information on HB-927 send us an email at webmaster@spofga.org and we will send you one of our Fact Sheets.

Perdue: Hypocritical to use illegals' labor, call them burden

Associated Press

Addressing an issue that has been called a priority by the Republican majority in the Legislature, Gov. Sonny Perdue called it hypocritical to consider illegal immigrants a burden on the state while using them as a labor force.

Perdue echoed many immigrant advocacy groups who point out the contributions of illegal immigrants to Georgia industries like agriculture, poultry and construction.

"Any illegal action is troublesome," Perdue told reporters and a panel of immigration experts at the Capitol Tuesday. But he said the state has limits on what it can do to address a problem that the federal government should solve.

Various bills focusing on immigrants have been introduced this session, including one seeking proof of legal Georgia residency in order to receive state benefits and several placing sanctions on businesses that employ undocumented workers.

Declining to comment on those bills specifically, Perdue said the state does have eligibility rules on taxpayer-funded benefits. He also said there should be a registration process for a guest worker program, an initiative promoted by the Bush administration but not mentioned in the immigration bill passed by the U.S. House in December.
