LIKE ROTTEN MACKEREL BY MOONLIGHT, THEY SHINE AND STINK.
John Randolphs comment about Henry Clay applies to
President Bush, the Senators and Representatives, and leaders
of both political parties who are trying to deceive Americans
into amnesty for illegals in
the "reform immigration bill".
A column by Thomas Sowell, of the Hoover Institute at
Stanford University, appeared in the May 24, Atlanta Journal,
titled "Untruths invalidate the immigration bill". He writes,
"Every aspect of the current immigration bill, and the arguments
made for it, has fraud written all over it." As if to prove
Sowells statement, the next days paper had a guest editorial
by Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxbe Chambliss on the amnesty
bill Isakson helped write and Chambliss eagerly has signed on
The Isakson-Chambliss piece is titled "Proposal respects
our values". They rightly point out Georgians want to secure our
borders without granting amnesty or new path to citizenship to
the millions who have broke in the country. Then they
immediately launch into fraud by writing, "That is exactly what
we are trying to do."
Not true! According to all we read about the immigration
bill our Senators support, it promises secure borders, it
doesnt guarantee them. But the bill does do this: it
gives the 12 to 20 million people illegally in the country the
right to stay here forever as residents. Thats amnesty! If
they want to become citizens they will have to go back home,
get in line and pay $5000. But if the bill passes, they will be
able to stay here as legal residents and work for the rest of
their lives without the expense of becoming citizens. Backers
of the bill try to hide the truth with talk about fines,
having to learn English, etc., but those provisions will never
be enforced. Isakson and Chambliss are talking amnesty for the
12 to 20 million immediately, and that is not the only fraud
they are trying to sell.
Chambliss and Isakson claim, "We are seeking to ensure
that any reform ends the practice of "chain migration", but
their bill will not only grant residency the estimated 12 to 20
million people now here illegally, it will allow them to bring
in spouses, children, parents, brothers, and sisters. That
means an average of three or four other family members can be
brought over to join them. Instead of legalizing 12 to 20
million lawbreakersmaybe morewe are talking possibly 36 to 80
million more people who will automatically have the right to
come here legally. A new study claims that half the families in
Mexico already have at least one family member in the U.S.
Senator Chambliss, how can
you claim rewarding millions of people who broke into the
country with amnesty "respects" American values? Senator
Isakson, how can you claim rewarding employers who break the law
by hiring illegals "respects" American values? How can you
claim amnesty is not amnesty? How can you expect the
people of Georgia to continue to place their trust in you, or
believe anything you say?
We sure cant trust the agencies of Government which have
failed us since 1986. Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff
is a great example. His immigration office has staged a number
of publicized raids on illegal workers and their employers
recently, but apparently its not a sincere attempt to carry out
the law. Chertoff has gone out on the campaign trail to sell
the immigration fraud to America.
On May 24, he gave his real reason for staging the raids,
when he warned there will be more if the workers dont get a
chance to become legal. "Were going to enforce the law." he
said. "People all around the country will be seeing teary-eyed
children whose parents are going to be deported." Chertoff,
by that admission, is "enforcing" the law to help create
sympathy for illegals and pressure for amnesty, not to get them
out of the country. Chertoff is charged with enforcing the law,
but flatly said illegals are not going to be deported.
I have been in politics for a lifetime. I have known
Johnny Isakson for years, and hold him in high regard. But our
leaders are destroying our nation. This immigration bill is a
great example of what is wrong with our government and the
people we have elected to serve us. They will not tell us the
truth. They are afraid of people who are in this country
illegally and openly demonstrate for "rights" they are not
entitled to. They are slaves to greedy corporations who want
cheap labor at the expense of American society. They will not
stand up for America and Americans.
While the President, Congress and functionaries like
Chertoff are sending people to fight and die in Iraq, they are
giving our country away in Washington.
As Congressman Tancredo, Newt Gingrich, Lew Dobbs,
NumbersUSA, and countless other Americans know and support, the
best way to solve the problems of illegal immigration is to
enforce existing law and beef up resources to do it. Do
not grant amnesty to people who are in this country illegally.
Close the border to illegal entry. Crack down on employers who
hire illegals. Deny illegals welfare and other services.
Allow state and local officials to enforce immigration laws
against illegals. If we take those steps, the millions of
people here illegally will go back to their home countries,
first in tricles, then in rivers of reverse migrations.
