Republican
Governor Perdue vetoes bill (SB-15) that would protect Georgians
against illegals driving
One of the few positive bills to
come out of the 2007 Legislative Session was a bill increasing the
penalties for anyone convicted of driving without a license on their
fourth conviction. Not the
first, not the second, not the third - but on the
fourth conviction.
This bill was intended to
minimize the damage, including serious bodily injury and even death,
of Georgians from illegals who just ignore the law. Under current
law, they just keep on driving and apparently some have very poor
driving skills.
But the point is that Georgia
citizens have to obey the law, illegals who have broken the law to
get here should not be given a free pass to continue breaking the
law at will!
Governor Perdue, just like
Republican Senators Chambliss and Isakson continue to show more
interest in representing special interests than the people they have
been elected to represent.
This is a sad day in Georgia
when the controlling political party openly panders to special
interests.
