Senate Votes to prohibit Mexican trucks

The US Senate has passed Amendment 2797 to House Resolution 3074, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2008.

This is a very good amendment which would stop the Bush Administration plan to give Mexican trucks free reign on our country's highways. Just another step in the Bush Administration Plan for the NAFTA Super Corridor and what many claim is a stepping stone to the North American Union.

While the vote was overwhelming in favor of this prohibition, we will have to monitor it closely. This is not in the House Resolution and will have to be resolved by conference committee. This could be a vote for show based upon an agreement that it will be killed in conference.

The 23 Senators voting against this amendment, or supporting letting Mexican trucks run rampant on our country's highways are very disturbing. With the exception of quasi Republican Senator Lieberman, the other 22 votes against the prohibition were all Republicans.

These 22 Republicans and quasi Republican Lieberman need to be retired from the US Senate so they can go run for office in Mexico or go to work for their corporate handlers!
