Since this is an election year, we thought that you might be interested in how our Congressional delegation has voted on the endless streak of so called free trade agreements. Since NAFTA was passed our country's trade deficit has mushroomed and our manufacturing base has moved to foreign countries. The trade agreements also open the door to increased immigration.

The issue of illegal immigration is of course one that brings much controversy. However the law is clear and the negative effects are undeniable. One such example of the negative effects that has long term implications is included below concerning drug crime in Atlanta.

From our perspective the elections this year have been dismal. The Republican and Democratic Presidential candidates chosen by the Primary system, couldn't have been worse. Someday they ought to read the Constitution! At the State Legislature level, a majority of the races only had one candidate (oops - worse record than the Republic of Congo election).

In the aftermath of Super Tuesday, the shortcomings of both the Republican and Democratic parties was pointed out by the President of Mexico.

Perhaps many who are planning to vote in Tuesday's Presidential Primary are not aware of Senator McCain's support for amnesty.

Apparently our Georgia elected officials and the officials they appoint are more concerned with corporate profits than the well being of Georgians or Americans in general. Seemingly oblivious to the FACT that our trade deficits clearly indicate that we have unsustainable trade policies - they are pandering to the Metro Atlanta Chamber and multi-national corporations.

The Washington Times reports, however, that Reid will push for passage of the so-celled DREAM Act, which would grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, by different means (possibly in its stand-alone form [S. 774, sponsored by Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin {D-Ill.}]) before the Senate adjourns for the year (i.e., on or about November 16).

The US Senate has passed Amendment 2797 to House Resolution 3074, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2008.

During the last few years of the Bush Administration and Republican control of Congress, Democrats for the most part have been opposed to so called free trade agreements. They said it cost American jobs, was bad for the economy and a sell out to multi-national corporations.

In today's world it is so easy to not find time to communicate with our elected officials in Washington. Of course the fact they seem to ignore us does not help any either.

Despite the over whelming opposition of American citizens the US Senate passed a cloture vote by 64 - 35. American citizens are opposed by over 70%, so the US Senate votes in favor by over 70%. The federal government, including the US Senate and Whitehouse are 180 degrees out of sync with the citizens that they are supposed to be representing.

Senators Chambliss and Isakson need to be reminded to vote against this bill that they helped write - working with Senator "blonde in every pond" Kennedy. Since they helped create this monster - they should be held accountable until it is buried six feet under.
