Cato Institute confirms President Bush is worlds greatest
spender
by
Mike Crane
In October we published an article about the spending policies
of the Bush Administration (See:
BUSH: Go ahead liberal punks - just try to outspend me!).
The facts were startling. The Republican Revolution that started in
1994 and has resulted in Republican control of the White House, U.S.
House of Representatives and U.S. Senate has NOT reduced the burden
presented by the federal government. It has in fact led to the
largest spending and borrowing spree
in the history of our country!
Many, included the author, for years were extremely critical
of the then controlling Democrats for their tax and spend programs.
But all who voted for the Republican Party under the guise that they
would lead the way in reducing the federal government addiction to
your wallet did not get what they voted for!
The chart at the right from the Cato Institute (See:
Bush Beats Johnson: Comparing the Presidents) simply gives a
visual picture of the spending habits of recent Presidents.
The Cato Institute Report gives the following summary of
federal spending under recent presidents:
The increase in discretionary spending—that is,
all non-entitlement programs—in Bush’s first term was 48.5 percent
in nominal terms. That’s more than twice as large as the increase
in discretionary spending during Clinton’s entire two terms (21.6
percent), and just higher than Lyndon Johnson’s entire
discretionary spending spree (48.3 percent).
In the October article we reported the government's own Treasury
Bond Debt figures as:
I. National debt by Treasury Department (http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpenny.htm)
09/30/2005
$7,932,709,661,723.50
09/28/2001
$5,807,463,412,200.06
Since then our Treasury Bond Debt has increased!
12/23/2005
$8,097,233,080,920.30
In October we reported the government's own Trade Deficit
Report as:

Many who call themselves conservatives are silently watching
as the credit card tab for their grandchildren rises and rises.
Today neither the Republican or Democratic parties even understand
the term - fiscal responsibility. They are both converts to what
they call the great future benefit - globalism.
But have they really explained to you - the citizens they
are supposed to represent just what globalism means to you, your
family and grandchildren?
It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that you can
not accumulate debt at this rate forever. But in the name of
globalism they continue year after year, so unless you - the
citizens - make some changes you are going to get globalism
whether you like it or not.
Many are so busy that they have not taken the time to give
this much thought, and just continue to support their Party - after
all the other one is much worse, even when they have the same basic
direction. As we all know it is much better to go over the cliff at
30 mph than 60!
Coming soon - an article explaining just what this fantastic
world of globalism will bring to you, your family and
grandchildren. If you want to be notified by email when it is posted

How To Stay Informed
“Nobody
made a greater mistake than he who did nothing
because he could only do a little.”
―
Edmund Burke (1729
- 1797)
In the meantime, all of those who sent such
delightful flame mail about the article -
BUSH: Go ahead liberal punks - just try to outspend me!
- don't forget to send similar messages to the Cato
Institute for also telling the truth! No matter how much you
complain, the facts remain just that - facts - President Bush is
presiding over the largest accumulation of debt and spending in the
history of the world.
