TEN COMMANDMENTS-GA PRESS RELEASE 12/5/07

"Two More Historical Displays are Approved in the State"

Two more sets of the "Foundations of American Law & Government Display" will be hung. This time they will be in the courthouse of Barrow County as well as in Douglas County. These recent decisions come on the heels of Dougherty County's decision to be the first south Georgia county to approve the display in a courthouse.

The Barrow County Commission voted unanimously November 27 to display the "Foundations of American Law and Government" display in the County Annex building until the new courthouse is built. The commissioners brought up the idea of approving the display. It was also agreed that only private funds from the citizens were to be used to purchase the documents. Our understanding is that the documents will be up in the next week or so.

The Douglas County Commission voted unanimously December 4 to display its state approved set of documents. Concerned citizens of Douglas County purchased and gave the documents to the county during their meeting. The "Foundations of American Law and Government" display should go up in the courthouse as soon as an appropriate location is secured. Both commissions were excited about the support and enthusiasm the communities displayed during their discussions about approving the displays!

On July 1, 2006, Gov. Sonny Perdue signed into law H.B. 941 http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2005_06/fulltext/hb941.htm authorizing local governments to erect historical displays that include a copy of the Ten Commandments. These displays pave the way for communities to further educate their citizens regarding historical facts about our country's founding.

Ten Commandments-Georgia congratulates Barrow and Douglas Counties for making this bold step to take advantage of this new law.

These historical documents are being made available through the ministry of Ten Commandments-GA, Inc. However, TC-GA has never given or placed displays in any government buildings. We serve as a resource for private citizens, churches, civic clubs and organizations to purchase these documents and to present them for approval to their local governing boards, commissions and councils.

TC-GA has beautifully designed to legal specifications the nine piece historical display. You may view these unique designs by logging on to www.thoushalt.org.

The following documents may now be legally posted in local government buildings:

1. The Ten Commandments
2. The Mayflower Compact, 1620
3. The Declaration of Independence
4. Magna Carta
5. 'The Star-Spangled Banner' by Francis Scott Key
6. The National Motto: "In God We Trust"
7. The Preamble to the Georgia Constitution
8. The Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution
9. The description on the image of Lady Justice

They may be purchased by contacting TC-GA on the web, calling 706-856-2524, or by mail at TC-GA, P.O. Box 941, Hartwell, GA 30643.
