Psalm 2 Government - Obamanation vs. Hobby Lobby

As with many legal cases, the Hobby Lobby case can be hard to follow. But this legal case concerning Obamacare and the government's effort to force contraceptive and unborn baby murder insurance on those whose Faith rejects such - can be very informative.

To begin a brief review of the First Amendment is in order:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This is a case about: "prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

When the First Amendment was ratified did this sentence generate a right for the people of our country?

The answer is no! This was added to the Constitution for the express purpose of preventing the central government from interfering with a right that the people had before the ratification of the Constitution. It was added to guarantee the rights already in existance.

The very beginning of of what became the United States of America clearly stated where our rights originate. This is of course the Declaration of Independence. Specifically:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Our rights are derived from God! Our government has now decided that it will decide what rights we have. This case is the governments effort to first convince us that a "court" can determine what our rights are and secondly to minimize the Constitutional meaning of free exercise.

Why would government do such a thing? The answer is in the first few verses of Psalm 2 and the reason this series of articles is called Psalm 2 government:

Psalm 2-1:3 (KJV):

1: Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2: The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD , and against his anointed, saying,

3: Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

In verse 2 and 3 this passage is pointing out that those who have worldly authority over us, will plot or work together to eliminate our Christian Heritage as God's Plan for civil government places restrictions on government that they do not like.

Perhaps the time has come to begin thinking about how to put an end to this foolishness. Does God lead men to diminish God's Word?

Absolutely not!

Hobby Lobby First Business to Openly Defy Obamacare Mandate

Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned hobby, arts and crafts chain, has decided to risk fines of up to $1.3 million per day and defy the Obamacare mandate that it provide insurance coverage for abortifacient drugs.

The decision is the latest development in Hobby Lobby's suit against the Obama Administration, which has ordered all employers in the country to pay for insurance coverage of abortion-inducing drugs, regardless of religious objections.

In the suit by Hobby Lobby and lawsuits brought by other employers, the Administration has argued that Christians must surrender their religious freedoms if they own a company.

Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor rejected Hobby Lobby's emergency request that it not be required to follow the mandate or be subject to fines until its lawsuit can be decided in a lower court.

Sotomayor, an Obama flunkie, unsurprisingly ruled that it was Obama's way or the highway.

Hobby Lobby, to its owners' credit, chose the highway.

Sotomayor proved both that she is unqualified to sit on the Supreme Court and why she was chosen by Obama when she ruled that Hobby Lobby did not meet the legal definition for an exemption to the Obamacare mandate. That ruling foreshadows how she will argue if and when the case returns to the Supreme Court.

The D.C. Court of Appeals had ruled earlier, noting that the Administration had promised different regulations by August 2013 for companies whose owners had religious objections to the Obamacare mandate. The court ordered that the Administration should be held to its promise, so it's possible Hobby Lobby may still escape fines.

If that order does not hold, though, the company will be burning money while it fights Obama's frontal assault on religious liberty.

Dozens of other companies, hospitals and universities have also challenged the Obama Administration's effort. The Catholic bishops have led the fight and tried to create a church-wide uprising against the Obamacare mandate.

But the majority of American Catholics didn't follow the bishops' lead, probably due to the church's previous support of Obama and many of the main principles of Obamacare. The church's own liberalism has now come back to roost.

The bishops' failure to rally their church leaves individual owners of companies like Hobby Lobby to lead the fight to preserve freedom for all Americans.

It's been said that liberalism is itself a religion, and abortion is its sacrament.

If that's so, it's a faith of godlessness that the Man Who Would Be King is trying to establish as the state religion. Health care has become a wedge to split Christianity from public life.
